Who should do this course?

Every person who...

  • ... is exposed to the dangers and pitfalls of social media - like your child, your teenager, as a parent, a student, a young adult or especially as a teacher! Even your friends on your whatsapp groups. We don't always realise the major legal implications of what we do. (For children under the age of 10 we recommend parental guidance.)

What you will learn in this course:

  • How to protect your digital identity, know your legal rights and be safer.

  • Are you on a whatsapp group? Do you realise you could be held responsible for the content? Even if you didn't send it. Learn more about this.

  • Sexy selfies, nude photos, jokes, fake news - what you are allowed to share and what not, and the implications if you do.

  • What to do if someone screwed up, whether by accident, deliberately or even when hacked or if their phone was stolen.

  • Cyber bullying, creepy people and what to do if someone becomes a target.

  • The dangers and legal pitfalls of social media, how to avoid them and how to protect yourself.

  • And a whole lot more...

What others say

"Enlightening / terrifying"

SACS parent

"Well done – seriously! Thanks too for your enlightening/terrifying talk. It really was mind blowing. I suppose much of what you shared is your learning over time, and so doesn’t feel to you like it’s as new or alarming anymore, but it really is important stuff for us to hear."

"The young and old"

St John’s DSG

“You were amazing yesterday. You got your point across in a humorous yet very sincere way with regards the consequences of inappropriate posting on social media. You also pitched the level just right so that the young and old got the message.”

"Still talk about what they learned"

Parent at Kingsmead

"My daughters were fortunate to have Emma speak at their school about 3 years ago. They are now almost 11 and 14 and still talk about what they learnt."

"Hilarious and petrifying""

Parent from DPHS

"Emma is hilarious and petrifying in equal amounts which makes her perfect for talking to boys - I organised her to talk at our school last year, it started off with lots of laughs, but towards the end you could hear a pin drop."

"Best 2 hours spent"

Parent, SACS High School

“Wow - I joined you for the talk you did at SACS High School last Thursday and was completely blown away by what you had to say! I have been to quite a few talks at schools over the years, but have to say that those 2 hours were the best 2 hours spent at a school talk!!!

"Do this every year"

Abbotts College Northcliff

"It was amazing, thank you so much we are going to do this every year!"
